Children from the age of kinder garden to pre-university are eligible for it. This programme will start in Singapore in the latter half of the year. There’s great interest in the student community about IB programme.
2. Areas of expansion
GEMS is looking for expansion in unexplored markets like China, Indonesia and Malaysia. Their plans to set up more schools in the region were confirmed by company’s CEO Mr. Dino Varkey.
During the initial stages, focus will be laid on Malaysia, where the target is to ready four schools by September 2015.
3. Details of expansion
In all, 40 schools are being planned to be opened over a span of ten years. Although focus is now on Malaysia, other sites that have been identified for potential are Johor Bahru and Iskandar Malaysia. The role of tuition coordinators will become even more significant now.

GEMS is also looking for successful tie ups with other major players. Reports state that the company is trying to tie up locally with Maju Group in Malaysia. Their knowledge of the local market would be useful in making these tie ups a hit.
